Some Random locations - remembered by Charlie Hulme
Weymouth Quay, 1970s - I have always been fascinated by
street-running. The class 33 is piloted by the car
with the flashing light.
Chinley 1960s. One of my better images from that era,
I think.
Glenfinnan, 1987; Class 37/4s were in charge.
Minffordd, 1990. The best trains that 'Regional
Railways Central' could muster for the long journey.
150 149 works for Northern in 2024 like all his 49 sisters.
Reddish South, 1981. At the time there was still a regular
service connecting with trans-pennine trains at
Stalybridge. The tank wagons on the right were in the
Standard Wagon Works, served by a daily trip which also
serviced the Stockport coal drops.
Royal Oak Underground station, 1970 amid A40 road
construction. Note the 'shunter's truck' still in use with
the class 08. At the time I was a student living in London,
not far from this station from which one could watch the
expresses in and out of Paddington. I was more interested in
the shunting!
Shanklin, Isle of Wight, 1984. Ex-London
Transport 'Standard Stock'.
Sheffield Victoria, 1966. Taken on a visit to Sheffield
University to see if they would have me. In the end, I
chose the bright lights of London.
