About the SocietyThe Society has an extensive and varied collection of books, photographs, and archive material covering locomotives, rolling stock, architecture and signalling. In addition the library has a comprehensive collection of timetables and publications from other societies. All of these are available to members for an affordable annual subscription. We also have regular talks on railway subjects in our clubrooms at Stockport station, and weekly informal meetings for research, assisting the cataloguing of acquiried material, or just 'chatting'. The members-only section of the website includes a searchable collection of for view at home, of over 100,000 digitised photographs (a fraction of our total collection) as well as archive listings. We also have an email group for notices, queries and discussion. The MancunianMembers receive, in paper or digital format, a bi-monthly magazine, 'The Mancunian' which contains Society matters, and articles covering a variety of interests such as the history of locomotives and lines, current events as well as personal reminiscences of the past. The success of the magazine is reflected by the number of 'out of town members' that we have and the lively correspondence it generates. The cost is included in the annual subscription. A sample issue can be viewed here. The complete set of the magazine from 1958 to date is available on-line to members. Membership information
